The client
Pacific Hydro Retail Pty Ltd is a global clean energy solutions company that generates renewable energy. Its retail arm supplies electricity products to large and small businesses, as well as to residential customers.
Challenges
Pacific Hydro were looking to expand their sales team, and as a new company also needed to focus on establishing and building a reputable brand for themselves in the Energy industry. They therefore decided to outsource part of the recruitment process. As they had previously worked with The Proven Group, whose expertise in this industry is second to none, they contacted them for help.
One of the biggest challenges that Pacific Hydro faces is the reputation that salespeople in the Energy industry have for being too ‘pushy’ and alienating customers. They therefore needed quality candidates who had experience in the industry, and who would also be able to deliver the kind of customer service on which they pride themselves and are renowned for.
Solutions
The process began with a telephone conversation, during which The Proven Group elicited and recorded all of the information they needed to form a clear understanding of Pacific Hydro’s requirements in terms of the candidates’ skills, background, salary bracket and regions. Using this information, together with a position description, The Proven Group conducted a comprehensive search of their database where they had a pool of quality candidates that they had already met, screened and interviewed.

Results
After interviewing the shortlisted candidates provided by The Proven Group, Pacific Hydro appointed three new SME Business Representatives who are experienced in the industry and, crucially, professional and respectful of the customer.
